DESCRIPTION:If you or someone you know is a legal permanent resident interested in taking the major step of becoming a citizen of the United States\, State Representative Tony McCombie (IL-71st) is hosting a workshop to help with the application process. The workshop is being held with the help of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and its partners. Volunteers will be on hand to help assist applicants in completing the necessary forms and documents. \n“Navigating the citizenship process can be difficult.  We want to help people understand the steps and work with those that want to come to our area for a better life for themselves\, their families and generations to come\,” Rep. McCombie said. “Our country is a nation of immigrants.  I appreciate our partner organizations who have the hands-on expertise to assist my constituents with this opportunity.” \nPartner Organizations include the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant & Refugee Rights\, Esperanza Legal Assistance Center\, and the YWCA of Sauk Valley. \nThe workshop will be held at the YWCA of Sauk Valley on Saturday\, October 26th beginning at 10:00 a.m. and running until everyone has been helped. To be eligible for citizenship you must be a legal permanent resident of the United States for at least 5 years\, or if married to a U.S. citizen\, for 3 years. Applicants are advised to bring the required documents with them to the workshop. DESCRIPTION:Pre-register at https://www.eventbrite.com/o/morrison-chamber-of-commerce-and-cottonwood-4-h-club-8443013261 by October 25th. \n12:30 p.m. – Line-up begins in the drive through of Community State Bank\, 220 East Main Street. Treat Bags will be provided for the first 200 kids! \n1:15 p.m. – Participants wishing to have their costumes judged as part of the costume contest need to be lined up by this time. \n1:30 p.m. – Parade begins and proceeds down Main Street to the Post Office. \n2-3:30 p.m. – Prizes will be handed out for Most Original\, Cutest\, Scariest/Funniest and Group Costumes. **Trophies and prizes sponsored by Farmers National Bank. \nIn case of rain\, event will be moved to the Morrison Junior High School. \nSponsored by Cottonwood 4-H and the Morrison Chamber of Commerce \n
