DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 39th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Service & Awards. We will have an in-person event at the MLK Center\, as well as a live-stream video on Facebook and YouTube. \nThis year’s theme is\, A Conscientious Stance\, inspired by Dr King’s famous quote\, “There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe nor political nor popular\, but he must take it because his conscience tells him it is right.” \nThis event will feature a keynote speaker\, plus a variety of performances and presentations in honor of Dr. King. Two scholarships will be awarded\, and the “I Have A Dream” Award will be presented to a Rock Island citizen for exemplary community service and enormous contributions made to the community. \nStay tuned for information on how to nominate someone for the I Have A Dream Award. \nFor more information\, please call 309 732 2999 or email mlkmail@rigov.org
