McCombie delivers hundreds of Valentine’s Day cards to spread joy to local seniors

House Republican Leader and State Representative Tony McCombie (89th District- Savanna) and her district office staff delivered approximately 450 Valentine’s Day cards this week to residents of six long-term care facilities throughout Northwest Illinois. All cards were collected from community members who participated in McCombie’s first annual Valentines for Seniors Card Drive to lift the spirits of senior citizens who may receive little outside social interaction.

“Thank you to the dozens of families, students and local groups that stepped up for our Valentine’s Day Card Drive,” said McCombie. “My staff and I enjoyed delivering your cards to local seniors in long-term care facilities to let them know how much our community truly cares about them. We look forward to growing the Card Drive next year to bring cheer to even more senior citizens in Northwest Illinois.”

Representative McCombie and her staff delivered Valentine’s Day cards to long-term care facilities in Byron, Savanna, Lena, Oregon, Mt. Carroll and Polo. Local communities that had the highest number of residents send in Valentines for the card drive were Mt. Carroll, Genoa, Savanna, Galena, and Forreston.

Cards were collected at Representative McCombie’s office from January 23 – February 7. Local residents were asked to drop off or mail their cards to McCombie’s district office in Savanna.
