Today House Minority Leader Tony McCombie announced member appointments for the Legislative Audit Commission, the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability, and the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules. All three play an essential role in government functioning, accountability, and transparency for the State of Illinois.
The Legislative Audit Commission is responsible for the oversight of the State Audit Program, review of the stewardship of public funds, and monitoring action to correct weaknesses disclosed by the audits of state agencies. The Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability issues reports to the General Assembly on economic trends related to budgeting and the state’s fiscal condition to help discern the proper fiscal policies for the state. The Joint Committee on Administrative Rules ensures the General Assembly is adequately informed of how laws are implemented through agency rulemaking and to facilitate public understanding of rules and regulations.
“These bicameral committees are uncompensated but are critically important in Illinois state government,” Leader McCombie said. “These assignments are filled with strong and serious members of the House Republican caucus to ensure checks and balances, fiscal responsibility, and legislative oversight are delivered on behalf of the people of Illinois.”
Leader McCombie has appointed the following House Republican lawmakers:
