After DCFS worker Pam Knight was brutally beaten to death last fall, Rep. McCombie drafted legislation to give DCFS and Adult Protective Service employees the same protections that our police, fire, and other emergency responders already receive under Illinois law.
Yesterday, that legislation failed to pass full committee on a partisan roll call in which the majority decided to vote down any and all penalty enhancement bills. The safety of our residents is not a partisan issue, we can work together to correct injustices within Illinois’ criminal justice system without jeopardizing the lives of the citizens we have sworn to protect.
