IL 78 (Cherry Street) in Morrison to be closed Nov. 4-8 for Railroad Crossing Maintenance

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces today that IL 78 (Cherry Street) in Morrison will be closed to all through traffic from Monday, November 4 through Friday, November 8, 2019. The closure will allow the Union Pacific (UP) Railroad to remove and replace the north crossing (Main 1) and perform other needed maintenance to their at-grade crossing located between Wall Street and Market Street.

To allow continued traffic movement, a detour will be marked on IL 78, Wall Street, and Genesee Street for northbound traffic and on US 30, Orange Street, and Wall Street for southbound traffic.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
