Western Illinois University’s Purple and Gold Day of Caring will take place Friday, April 24. It will be a day for WIU alumni and friends to come together online to share positivity, to pass along words of encouragement to our students, and to show our WIU pride.
WIU Athletics will also be featuring special content on many of its platforms, including videos from head coaches and administrators sharing their experiences during these difficult times.
Alumni and supporters will have the opportunity to contribute to the Leatherneck Club as well as the University’s Student Emergency Fund. The emergency fund will help graduate and undergraduate students meet immediate needs brought on by COVID-19, including food, shelter, emergency medical care, technology needs to complete online course work, and transportation for students returning to their homes.
To donate to the Student Emergency Fund, which can be made any time, visit wiu.edu/studentsupport, text “WIUCARE” to the number 41444, or mail the donation to the WIU Foundation, 303 Sherman Hall, 1 University Circle, Macomb IL 61455. Payroll deduction options are also available for WIU employees who would like to participate. All gifts designated for the Student Emergency Fund will go toward WIU students.
