The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that Cleveland Road in the Village of Colona will be closed to all through traffic from Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7, 2020. The closure will allow the BNSF Railway to perform needed maintenance to their at-grade crossing located between IL 84 and I-80, just east of IL 84.
To allow continued traffic movement, a detour will be marked utilizing IL 84, US 6, and I-80.
Drivers are asked to be alert for the road closure and use alternate roadways when traveling this area.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
