Food Destroyed During a Disaster or Power Outage?

Last week, a storm swept across Northwest Illinois, bringing 80 mph winds and causing widespread property damage. Due to the storm, many people lost power for multiple days.

Several Utilities servicing Northwest Illinois accepts claims for food that was destroyed due to the power outage of four hours or more if it was purchased with SNAP Benefits. If you lost groceries because of the storm, this is an excellent opportunity to replenish it without using more of your food benefits.
