For more than a year, Governor Pritzker has cut out a co-equal branch of government and ruled the state with unilateral authority instead of working collaboratively to fight COVID-19 in Illinois. This week, after previously saying the decision should be left up to local school boards, Pritzker reversed course announcing masking mandates for PreK-12 students. One man alone cannot solve a pandemic. It’s time to allow local health departments, elected officials, schools and most importantly – parents – to make decisions to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
