The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that weather permitting, the U.S. 30 Mississippi River bridge (Gateway Bridge) near Fulton in Whiteside County will have a lane closure on Wednesday, April 27, starting at 8:00 am and ending by 3:00 pm. The closure is to replace river navigation lights on the structure.
Flaggers will be directing traffic across the bridge. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
