State Representative Tony McCombie is grateful to announce that she has received the “Legislator of the Year” Award from the Township Officials of Illinois for 2022.
The award is given to the year’s most outstanding legislator for their support of township government and the legislative initiatives of townships across Illinois. Rep. McCombie was notified of the honor in October and formally received the award at the 115th Annual Educational Conference on Tuesday, November 15th in Springfield. This was the first in-person conference since 2019.
“Representative McCombie is a true reflection of local government. She is familiar with the demands placed on local township officials to do their job. She understands the contributions made each day by township officials across the state. We are proud to have her supporting us in Springfield,” said Jerry Crabtree, Executive Director of Township Officials of Illinois.
“It is an honor to be recognized for my support for, and dedication to, working with townships as partners in good government,” Rep. McCombie said. “Smart leadership in the General Assembly and strong engagement with townships across the state is how we will effectively and efficiently deliver services to the people of Illinois.”
Illinois townships have three main functions: to support the poor, to assess property taxes, and to maintain all roads and bridges outside of federal, state, and other jurisdictions, amounting to 53% of Illinois thoroughfares.
Rep. McCombie currently represents the 71st District that stretches through four counties and dozens of townships.
