A major policy initiative created by Illinois House Republicans is finally being implemented after a multi-year delay by Governor JB Pritzker. The announcement came yesterday, and was welcomed by House Republicans as a step forward to encourage investment and boost job creation across Illinois.
The Act was initially passed in 2019, but due to pandemic constraints was halted by the Governor. It offers tax breaks to eligible companies to offset wages paid to construction workers: up to 75 percent in certain underserved areas (as determined by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity) and 50 percent elsewhere.
