State Representative Tony McCombie filed legislation earlier this year to encourage transparency in state government. The initiative, HB3207, would amend the Legislative Information System Act to make video recordings of all committee hearings of the General Assembly available to the public and posted online for at least 30 days after.
While the measure failed to move forward this year, McCombie believes this would help encourage public involvement in the legislative process and also hold lawmakers accountable for legislation passed at the committee level. She remains a vocal advocate for larger ethics reform and with that greater government transparency.
The status of McCombie’s legislation is here.
