State Representative Tony McCombie backed an initiative to curb the rising fentanyl epimidemic. Her legislation would allow a pharmacist or retailer (rather than only a pharmacist) to sell fentanyl test strips over-the-counter to the public to test for the presence of fentanyl.
Earlier this year, Rep. McCombie spoke out about the need to combat this dangerous drug. “Fentanyl is everywhere. It is effecting every community across our state and in those across our nation. It is a priority for me to find a solution, one that can prevent overdoses and keep our neighborhoods and the families within them safe,” said Rep. McCombie.
House Bill 3203 was signed into law by Governor Pritzker last week. It is a step forward in keeping communities safe.
