Representative Tony McCombie recently had legislation she backed signed into law.
Her bill, HB1465, helps local Road Districts by increasing the competitive bidding threshold to $30,000. This is an increase from the prior threshold of $20,000; when the cost of construction, materials, supplies, new machinery or equipment exceeds $30,000, the contract for such construction, materials, supplies, machinery or equipment shall be let to the lowest responsible bidder if specified conditions are met. This would make it consistent with current law and what has been done for townships.
This legislation was a necessary fix in current law to make road districts, which comprise townships, to the same threshold. The change will be effective immediately.
