The Illinois EPA will open the next EV Rebate Program funding round on November 1, 2023. The funding round will run from November 1, 2023, to January 31, 2024. Illinois residents purchasing a new or used all-electric passenger vehicle ($4,000) or all-electric motorcycle ($1,500) from an Illinois licensed dealer are eligible for the rebate. Applicants that certify as low income are given priority in disbursement of the rebates.
Details about the rebates are now available on the Illinois EPA Electric Vehicle Rebate website in advance of the next funding round that opens on November 1, 2023.
Applications will not be accepted or reviewed if postmarked prior to November 1, 2023. Please note that funding for the round is limited and low-income applicants are given priority for rebates.
If you are considering applying, keep in mind the following information:
- There is a $12 million appropriation for FY24, and we anticipate funding will run out quickly, potentially as soon as 4-6 weeks.
- This is a first come, first serve program based on application postmark – we encourage interested purchasers to apply as early as possible during the rebate cycle window.
- Applicants should do a thorough review of their application before submitting – if any application components are missing, in the time it takes for IEPA to review, reach out to the constituent, and have a new application submitted, funding could already be gone.
- Applicants must apply during the rebate cycle window and within 90 days of vehicle purchase.
