Happy Earth Day! Earth Day takes place on April 22nd every year and dates back to 1970, when U.S.-based organizers were hoping to bring awareness to the environmental issues. Now, the awareness has spread, and over a hundred countries now participate in Earth Day recognition.
House Minority Leader Tony McCombie is taking today as a great reminder of what needs to be done to keep our planet healthy.
“This is one day of special recognition where together we can keep working to keep our communities across Illinois clean and healthy,” said Leader Tony McCombie.
McCombie is encouraging area residents to use today’s reminder to get involved by recycling, cleaning up your local park, or even repurposing items for new uses!
