Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie is hosting a Free Shred Event in Freeport on Saturday, October 5th alongside State Representative John M. Cabello (R-Machesney Park) and the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Department.
Any paper documents can be brought to the event to be professionally and securely shredded and discarded at the event:
Date: October 5th 2024
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Highland Community College | 2998 West Pearl City Rd. Freeport, IL. | Parking Lot B
This event has been a success in the past, drawing more demand for secure document shredding in the area. “I am pleased to offer this event to residents so that they can rest assured their personal information is not comprised,” said Leader McCombie. “I encourage everyone able to stop by the event and take the extra step to protect you and your family from possible identity theft.”
The lawmakers recommend residents use this event as a chance to safely and securely dispose of any paper documents that contain sensitive personal information. This event is free and open to all residents of the 89th and 90th House Districts. Attendees are encouraged to limit their items for shredding to only two bankers boxes as the event will end once the truck reaches capacity.
“With consumer fraud and digital hacking on the rise, now is the time to take the steps to keep your personal data safe,” said Representative Cabello. “Please utilize this free shred event and make it even harder for bad actors and scammers to steal your information.”
