McCombie Hosts Annual Northwest Illinois Law Enforcement Event

House Minority Leader Tony McCombie recently held a successful law enforcement luncheon in her 89th District, which brought together area lawmakers and local Sheriffs, Chiefs and State police to discuss the issues they face throughout northwest Illinois. The event drew a great crowd of participants for a productive discussion on public safety.

Leader McCombie gave an update to the group about legislative issues that will impact law enforcement and encouraged the participants to reach out to her office should issues come up in the legislature she should be aware of.  Law enforcement used the opportunity to discuss the issues they see on a daily basis, and informed lawmakers of growing concerns in the public safety arena. Leader McCombie was joined at the event by former state lawmaker Brian Stewart and State Representatives John Cabello (Machesney Park), Jeff Keicher (Sycamore), Bradley Fritts (Dixon), Joe Sosnowski (Rockford), and State Senator Andrew Chesney (Freeport).

McCombie has maintained her strong advocacy in the Illinois House for improved public safety and will continue to spearhead working groups aimed at improving the state’s faulted SAFE-T Act, which was hastily pushed through the legislature and consequently amended four different times. McCombie has worked with House Republicans and the public safety working group to find ways to improve the law while also supporting law enforcement.

Leader McCombie’s annual event has been a great success and is an ongoing effort of House Republicans to keep open and honest dialogue with members of law enforcement across Illinois.

“I am proud to continue to host this event and keep brining law enforcement and lawmakers together,” said McCombie. “Each discussion we have is a step forward to improving our state.”
