House Minority Leader Tony McCombie is issuing a special thank you to all who contributed to the Holiday Diaper Drive this year! Leader McCombie was honored to help spread the word about the Drive, which is spearheaded by her colleague and Deputy Minority Leader, State Representative Ryan Spain.
Nearly 1 in 2 families in the U.S. struggle to afford diapers, but programs like WIC and SNAP do not cover diapers and many other items families need to care for a baby. Many families in need turn to local food pantries in times of need, but it’s often difficult for our local food pantries to keep up with the need for diapers, wipes and cream. The Holiday Diaper Drive provides a community driven effort to fill that gap.
Rep. Spain has held this drive the last seven years, and it has continued to make an impactful difference for local families. This year’s success was monumental: more than 14,000 diapers and more than 16,000 wipes were collected for families in need this holiday season. This brings the seven-year donation total to more than 82,500 diapers.
