McCombie Sworn in for New Term: 104th General Assembly Convenes

Today, State Representative Tony McCombie was sworn into office to serve the 89th District in the Illinois House of Representatives for the 104th General Assembly. Representative McCombie’s 89th legislative district covers the northwest corner of the state primarily in Carroll and Jo Daviess Counties as well as portions of: Boone, DeKalb, Ogle, Stephenson, and Winnebago.

The House of Representatives of the new 104th General Assembly is comprised of 78 Democrats and 40 Republicans. McCombie was named the House Minority Leader; proudly the first female to hold the title and lead the Republican caucus in the last General Assembly.

Through her tenure McCombie has advocated for local control, government accountability and efficiency, and tax relief.

“I want to thank the people of the 89th District for putting their faith in me to be their voice in Springfield. Public service is an honor, and I am ready to hit the ground running to instill the commonsense solutions required to improve Illinois,” said McCombie.

In her speech renewing her role as House Minority Leader, McCombie touched on the direction she will take this new term not just representing her district, but the House Republicans.

“Our caucus is focused on three key priorities: fostering economic growth, cutting unnecessary spending, and opposing tax increases,” said McCombie. “These priorities are not just goals; they are essential steps toward making Illinois a place of opportunity and prosperity.”
