House Minority Leader Tony McCombie filed a lawsuit to file extreme partisan gerrymandering in Illinois.
When discussing the extreme gerrymandering impacting legislative districts, Leader McCombie stated:
“They are drawn by the political party in control and intended to entrench the Democratic Party in power and prevent voters of the minority party from electing candidates of their choice. The general election outcomes are rigged.”

In addition to seeking legal remedy through this announced lawsuit, legislation has been filed in the Illinois House by State Representative Ryan Spain and backed by Leader McCombie. House Joint Resolution Constitutional Amendment 05 would enact a Fair Map Amendment and will proceed through the legislative process.
