House Minority Leader Honors Memorial Day

The family tradition of Memorial Day had its start with the custom of gathering in places of eternal rest to pay tribute to our kinfolk, especially those who have fought in America’s wars. Many flags in Illinois will be lowered to half-staff on Memorial Day to honor their sacrifice.

Today House Minority Leader Tony McCombie is honoring Memorial Day and encouraging Illinoisans to take time to honor and remember:

“This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” said McCombie. “Freedom isn’t free — and today we say thank you to those who paid its highest price. Let’s live in a way that honors their legacy.”
