Farmers and agriculture haulers can now apply for a FREE Illinois Harvest Permit that allows trucks to exceed legal weight limits by up to 10% during harvest season (through December 31st).
House Minority Leader Tony McCombie is encouraging anyone interested to look into the now available permits:
Available through IDOT’s website: webapps.dot.illinois.gov/ITAP
Must also carry updated route authorizations every 14 days
Permit covers state routes only (not interstates or local roads unless waived by local jurisdictions)
According to Leader McCombie, this permit provides flexibility when hauling commodities, especially when in-field loading might push loads slightly over.
“Farmers feed Illinois and this helps keep the harvest moving,” said McCombie.
