House Minority Leader Tony McCombie had the honor of joining Chris James’ family, friends, colleagues, and community members to dedicate the Chris James Memorial Highway in Savanna.
Leader McCombie supported House Joint Resolution 17 this year, alongside Representative Gregg Johnson, to designate the Chris James Memorial Highway. This designation ensures that Chris’ legacy will continue to be remembered by all who travel this roadway for years to come.
The dedication event had a tremendous turnout, which McCombie noted, is a reflection of the lasting impact Chris had on our community.
During her remarks at the event, Leader McCombie talked about Chris and her time working with him.
“He cared deeply about the people he served and was never afraid to speak up for what he believed was right,” said McCombie. “As we reflect on Chris’ life and legacy, may we honor his memory not only today, but every day, by carrying forward the kindness, service, and commitment to others that defined his life.”
