House Minority Leader Tony McCombie is hosting Sweet Corn Day on Saturday, August 1st in Savanna.
Since Leader McCombie sponsored legislation in 2022 establishing August 1 as Illinois’ official Sweet Corn Appreciation Day, the annual event has grown into a popular community tradition celebrating one of Illinois’ signature summer crops while bringing families and neighbors together.
Leader McCombie continues to host the celebration, welcoming constituents from across the 89th District to enjoy sweet corn and connect with their community. This year’s event will feature bounce houses, face painting, balloon art, and live music.
This year’s 5th annual event will be hosted from 11:00am—2:00pm on August 1st at McCombie’s District Office in Savanna: 9317B IL Rt 84.
“Sweet Corn Day is a celebration of community, connection, and the simple joy of sharing good food,” said McCombie. “Sweet corn holds a special place in our state and the 5th annual event is a great milestone to give us even more to celebrate!”
All residents are encouraged to attend the FREE event to honor Sweet Corn Day!
