The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has extended the deadline for Early Childhood Block Grants, which are aimed at increasing access to preschool in places with critical access gaps.
ISBE’s goal is to add 5,000 new seats for low-income children and families in preschool deserts across the state–where there is not enough publicly funded preschool programs to serve families in need.
A wide range of entities are eligible to apply for these grants: there is $75 million available in FY 2024 to expand preschool access. This applies to school districts, Regional Offices of Education, child care centers, and nonprofit and for-profit community-based organizations – or any organization with experience serving young children and their families…check out these grants!
