The Fourth of July is a federal holiday in the United States and commemorates July 4, 1776 when the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the Declaration of Independence, announcing the colonies’ separation from Great Britain.
While it is a great day of celebration, it is also important to remember all our heroes who advocated for the freedom we enjoy today.
House Minority Leader Tony McCombie wishes Illinoisans a very happy Fourth of July filled with beautiful fireworks, quality family time, and delicious barbecue!
