The Illinois Department of Transportation will begin construction starting today, Wednesday July 24, on two projects: Illinois 2 over Mill Creek near Byron in Ogle County and on Illinois 64 (Washington Street) in Oregon from west of Illinois Street to First Street.
IDOT’s work in Byron includes replacing the bridge joints and repairing the bridge deck. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in the work zone and will be controlled by temporary traffic signals. This project is expected to be completed by the end of September.
The construction in Oregon will mill, patch and pave the road. There will be daily lane closures using flaggers, and the work is expected to be completed in mid-September.
House Minority Leader Tony McCombie is urging area residents to be aware of these projects: take care, drive slowly, and expect delays!
