McCombie Delivers State Funding to Galena

House Minority Leader Tony McCombie met with Galena City Manager Matt Oldenburg to deliver essential state funding to update city infrastructure and bring Galena historical sites up to code. Galena Jo Daviess County Historical Society and Museum will also be utilizing Illinois Jobs Now funds for construction of new museum building.

State funding, a product of the Illinois Jobs Now capital program, has been in the making for years and has been used for ADA sidewalk updates in the city and to help the Galena Jo Daviess County Historical Society and Museum new building project.

The Illinois Jobs Now funding is a historic $31 billion capital construction program that was launched in 2009 to deliver funding to roads, bridges, schools, and community infrastructure. McCombie has been working with state partners to ensure promised funding was delivered and was pleased to share the good news with Galena City Manager Matt Oldenburg today.

“Galena’s history deserves to be preserved, celebrated, and accessible for everyone. These Illinois Jobs Now investments will help protect important historic assets, modernize critical infrastructure, and strengthen this community for years to come. After years of advocacy, I’m proud to see this funding finally delivered and these projects moving forward,” said Tony McCombie.

McCombie is diligent in ensuring proper funding is delivered to 89th District recipients and will continue to advocate for necessary capital updates in the state legislature.
