House Minority Leader Tony McCombie is launching her summer reading program, Reading Buzz. This is the 10th annual summer the leader has backed this program to encourage students throughout the 89th District to read during the summer months.
Leader McCombie has continued to offer this program throughout her tenure serving in the state legislature to help students learn to love reading by creating a fun challenge – and even allow kids to double up on their reading programs! Books read in the Leader’s reading program can also count toward others as well like local libraries.
“This program has become a powerful way to encourage students to make reading fun, stay engaged during the summer months, and feel rewarded for their hard work and dedication,” said McCombie.
Reading Buzz entries are due by July 15. The reading form that can be filled out electronically and submitted is featured on the Leader’s website: https://repmccombie.com/reading-buzz/.
Families are invited to join Leader McCombie at her annual summer event, Sweet Corn Day, on August 1st in Savanna for recognition and a special treat! With questions, constituents are encouraged to contact McCombie’s office at (815) 291-8989.
