Rep. McCombie strongly opposes legislative pay raises

“I have voted against a COLA increase every year I have been in the Legislature. It is ridiculous that the automatic COLA for Illinois legislators was included in the 2020 budget, a budget I voted against. Speaker Madigan refused to call a bill denying the COLA (HB837) to legislators. Forty-three of forty-four House Republicans have co-sponsored a bill by State Representative Patrick Windhorst (HB2965) to deny an increase in pay and per diem to legislators. I call on the Illinois House Democratic Caucus to bring us back into session to approve either of these bills. Outside of that option, I call upon Governor JB Pritzker to issue an amendatory veto of the budget implementation act to add in a denial of the COLA/pay raise to Illinois House and Senate Members.”
