Rep. Tony McCombie Responds to Governor’s State of the State Address

Springfield…. Following the Governor’s annual State of the State address today, State Representative Tony McCombie (IL-71st) expressed optimism that Republicans and Democrats will work together by building on past successes, and respecting each other’s priorities and compromising to address the many issues facing the state.

In his speech, the governor highlighted accomplishments that were achieved together such as The Future Energy Jobs Bill and the commitment to fully fund K-12 Schools. These accomplishments will have a positive impact on our economy and environment for years to come. The Governor also stressed the importance of growing our economy faster than our government spending and we can do that by putting the people of Illinois first.

“Despite the state’s budget impasse, the Governor and the General Assembly worked together to save jobs and communities by keeping Exelon open and fully funding K-12 education at the levels promised” said Representative McCombie. “I am optimistic that Republicans and Democrats will respectfully come together to find common ground and build on past successes. No doubt, we have many challenges ahead, but I look forward to the opportunity to work with my colleagues to tackle our budget impasse, improve our aging infrastructure, develop new funding formulas for K-12, and find ways to make Illinois a better place to live and work.”
