The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that weather permitting, construction work on IL 5/IL 92 located 0.2 miles NE of IL 84 will begin on Monday, April 6, 2020. Civil Constructors will be making miscellaneous bridge repairs including a new concrete overlay on the structure carrying IL 5/IL 92 over the IAIS Railroad. The $1,822,160 project is scheduled to be completed by mid-August.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction with temporary barrier wall for this bridge work. Drivers should be alert for the lane closures and reduce speed when traveling through the work area.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
