The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that a section of Illinois 84 in Carroll County will be reduced to one lane starting Monday, May 17, 2021 to perform bridge deck and joint repairs. The bridge is located 4 miles north of Savanna.
The northbound lane will be closed from Monday, May 17, to Wednesday, May 19. Work will then shift to the southbound lane, which will close on Wednesday, May 19. The project is expected to be completed on Friday, May 21. Drivers should be prepared to stop near the work zone as one lane of traffic will be maintained and controlled with signals.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
