The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the intersection of Illinois 40 (Locust Street) and LeFevre Road in Sterling will be closed on Monday, Aug. 16, for emergency water main repairs.
Illinois-American Water will be doing the repairs, which are anticipated to be completed within two weeks. A detour will be posted to direct traffic around this area.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
