The Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service is looking for Nominations

SPRINGFIELD – The Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service (Commission) in partnership with the Governor’s Office announces applications for the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award (GVSA) opens July 01, 2022.  All applications and supporting materials must be turned in no later than July 31, 2022. GVSA recognizes volunteers and volunteer programs that have made a difference in Illinois and highlights the importance of volunteerism and community service. The winners of the awards will be announced on August 15, 2022.

“This recognition highlights some of the great volunteerism efforts around the state, as well as recognizes businesses that support volunteer efforts. These honorees truly embody the spirit of service,” said Commission Executive Director N. Ayoka Samuels. “Hosting this event is truly an honor because we understand that volunteerism is a key part of the quality of life equation for Illinoisans.”

The Commission annually receives hundreds of nominations in six categories (Youth: (age < 18), Adult: (age 19-54), Senior: (age 55+), AmeriCorps: ([age 18-54] Member of an Illinois AmeriCorps national service program)), ([age 55+], [FGP], [SCP], [RSVP]), Business (Volunteer work), COVID 19 Projects) from the Commission’s four service regions across the state (Central, Southern, Northern, and Western).
