🚒🧑🚒 Take on one of Galena’s most unique races! 🏃♂️🪜
🇺🇸 The Galena 5K Stair Challenge returns to historic downtown Galena on Saturday, September 12. Hosted by the Galena Area EMS District, Galena Police Department, and Galena Fire Department, this annual event honors the heroes of September 11 on the 25th anniversary of the attacks while recognizing the service and sacrifice of local first responders, past and present.
🪜 Participants can choose between a non-competitive one-lap Fun Run/Walk/Stair Climb beginning at 9:00 a.m. or the professionally timed seven-lap 5K Stair Challenge starting at 9:15 a.m. The timed race features chip timing, age and gender divisions, and is limited to 200 participants.
👨👩👧👦 Bring the whole family! Green Street Plaza will feature first responder demonstrations, the Galena Generals, the Jo Daviess County Mounted Patrol, food and treat vendors, an opening ceremony, and post-race awards.
❤️ Participants are encouraged to help support Galena-based first responders through the event’s fundraising challenge.
