Representative McCombie’s Citizenship Seminar

October 26, 2019
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
YWCA of the Sauk Valley
412 1st Ave
Sterling, IL 61081

If you or someone you know is a legal permanent resident interested in taking the major step of becoming a citizen of the United States, State Representative Tony McCombie (IL-71st) is hosting a workshop to help with the application process. The workshop is being held with the help of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and its partners. Volunteers will be on hand to help assist applicants in completing the necessary forms and documents.

“Navigating the citizenship process can be difficult.  We want to help people understand the steps and work with those that want to come to our area for a better life for themselves, their families and generations to come,” Rep. McCombie said. “Our country is a nation of immigrants.  I appreciate our partner organizations who have the hands-on expertise to assist my constituents with this opportunity.”

Partner Organizations include the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant & Refugee Rights, Esperanza Legal Assistance Center, and the YWCA of Sauk Valley.

The workshop will be held at the YWCA of Sauk Valley on Saturday, October 26th beginning at 10:00 a.m. and running until everyone has been helped. To be eligible for citizenship you must be a legal permanent resident of the United States for at least 5 years, or if married to a U.S. citizen, for 3 years. Applicants are advised to bring the required documents with them to the workshop. These items are listed at Representative McCombie’s website or on the enclosed flier.
